NPF not against anyone: K Adahrii

The Naga People's Front (NPF) is here in Manipur for peace and it is not against any person or organizations as such.
It has the desire to live peacefully among the various tribes in the state in harmony, exclaimed K Adahrii, President,NPF Senapati district.
Speaking as the Chief Guest at the inaugural function of the 29th Edition Sports Meet-Trophy organised by Maram Students Union (Maralui Karalimei Swijoikang ) at Sirohi Palyground, Tumuyon Khullen,Senapati yesterday, K Adahrii said that the NPF and the Nagas wanted to live peacefully with all their neighbours.
He further said that the Government of India is currently having peace talks with the Nagas to bring a resolution to the Naga issue.
The peace talk is in full swing.
The PM Dr Manmohan Singh had also assured the Naga leaders to bring about an amicable solution to the Naga issue which is acceptable both to the Nagas and the government of India, during his tenure as PM.
Yet the Union government is also of the view that since the voice of the people is being carried by the representatives of the people, let the representatives speak for the people on the Naga issue.
As such the NPF has come up in the state to integrate the Nagas, to bring the Naga issue to the Assembly, Parliament and to the whole world.
"The Nagas, as suffering people, have every right to negotiate with the Government of India to bring about a solution to the Naga issue.
The Nagas are not demanding the share of others to be theirs.
What the Nagas demand is equal development with the rest of the other tribes", he added.
He also alleged that many development programmes of the tribal have been diverted.
All development programmes are carried out only in paper and not in reality.
On lack of infrastructural development in the hill districts of the state, K Adahrii said that the government does not give enough infrastructure and training in the hills when it comes to sports.
So no sportspersons come up in the hill areas.
It is the responsibility of the state government to provide enough infrastructure and training to the people of the hills.
Nagas can compete with anyone, given the required training and infrastructure.
Speaking on the occasion, Pungdi P Celestine said that Tumuyon Khullen which is hosting the 29th Edition Sports Meet-Trophy, had lead the way in bringing reform in the Maram society.
The forefathers of this village had been the pioneer in the fields of education, Christianity, cultural revival, music and in many fields among the Marams.
He further said that this year's sports meet has chosen "Resilient" as the theme to reflect the vibrancy and dynamics of the youths as the stakeholders of the society.
This is an event of creating a platform where our youths can come together and share ideas, expose talents while exchanging love and culture.
Folk blues, enrichment and various other cultural exchange programmes by the Kuki, Thangal and Maram tribes marked the occasion.
The Chief Guest also unveiled the trophy Monument, unfurled the MKS flag and released the trophy balloons.
Lighting of the torch and oath taking ceremony were also part of the occasion.
