Asserting that villages from Moreh to Lokchao are not covered by the Yangoupokpi-Lokchao Wildlife Sanctuary as claimed by the concerned authority, the Kuki Chief Association, Moreh Block has urged the Government to immediately revoke the suspension order of two officials who were suspended in connection with the reported selling of piece of land to Assam Rifles.
A statement issued by the Information and Publicity secretary of KCA, Moreh Block said that the existence of Yangoupokpi-Lokchao Wildlife Sanctuary has never been heard in the vicinity.
The area is excluded from the Burma Border Reserved Forest vide Court of Forest Settlement Office order against objection case No 34 of 1946 from the proposed Burma Border Reserved Forest under the Govt of Manipur notification No 56/65/60-M dated 18/12/64 following an objection petition dated 18/12/64 filed by the chief of Sibong village (Khudengthabi), pointed out the KCA statement.
It added that similar order was also passed in respect of New Mongjang (Khomunnom) village vide objection case No 8 of 1996 .
Hence, there is no rights or authority from the side of the Revenue Dept on the matter pertaining to selling of a piece of land to the Assam Rifles by the Chief of New Mongjang village which belongs purely to him, the KCA posited.
Expressing surprise over the suspension of two officials namely Ph Ibohal Singh, SDC of Moreh and Ibomcha Singh, ASO, Moreh in connection with the reported gifting of land belonging to New Mongjang village, the KCA categorically asked if the Govt had snatched the personal properties of the people and claimed them as Govt properties.
Ph Ibohal was appointed the SDC in-charge of Moreh on April 19, 2003 whereas the DC of Chandel had issued recommendation for New Mongjang village in 2001 (vide letter No DC(CDL)/4/2/91 (Pt) dated May 24, 2001 and that the Extraordinary Gazette Order long before the appointment of Ph Ibohal Singh as the SDC, Moreh, it stated.
The KCA further added that the two officials have no connection with the sale of New Mongjang village land as neither of them is in authority at the time.
