Imphal, June 28 2013 :
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who also holds the portfolio of Home, has stated that all those involved in the grenade attack at Uripok yesterday killing two non-local migrant workers and injuring four others including a local would not be spared and strict punishment will be awarded to them.
Addressing media persons at his office in Imphal Secretariat here this evening, Gaikhangam strongly condemned the bomb blast and said that all those involved in it would not be spared and strict punishment would be awarded in accordance to the laws of the land.
While expressing sorrow over the death of two migrant workers in the blast and sharing the grief of the bereaved family members, Gaikhangam stated that triggering bombs in public places is an act of cowardice.
The State Government would see to it what help can be provided to the bereaved families and the matter would be taken up for discussion in the Cabinet meeting tomorrow, he assured.
Revealing the findings of the initial probe into the blast, Gaikhangam said that it has been reported that one of the deceased was a good electrician and he repaired electrical goods and equipments.
So, there is apprehensions that the bomb might have been fitted by the miscreants among the electrical goods given to him for repairing.
But nothing could be said with any certainty right now as police investigating is still on.
"Attacking migrant workers is not the right thing.
There are a number of Manipuris staying outside the State.
So, a deep thinking is required before committing such crimes", the Deputy Chief Minister observed.
