Imphal, August 09 2015 :
Former MLA Thongam Bishwajit has questioned the Government authorities' decision to de-recognise all the Fair Price Shop agents and SK oil sub-dealers of Thongju Assembly constituency just because the MLA's seat is vacant.
Speaking to media persons at his Ningomthong residence today, Bishwajit pledged to fight for the people of Thongju A/C through legal channel even if the corrupted administrative system has been scheming to breed undue hardships for the people of the Assembly segment.
Separate notices issued by the DSO Imphal East and the Imphal East DC on July 20 announced that the existing FPS agents and SK Oil sub-dealers would be de-recognised and they new agents would be selected in their place.
Taking strong exception to these notifications, agents filed a petition at the High Court of Manipur and the Court issued an interim order on July 27 which stayed the two notifications.
The same Court issued a ruling on August 3 which categorically stated that the interim order would remain in force until further order.
In accordance to an office memorandum issued by the CAF&PD Special Secretary on August 1, PDS rice was distributed to the people of Thongju A/C on August 4 at Khongman Zone-III, Ucheckon Khunou and Pheijaleitong.
For lifting PDS rice and sugar allocation for the month of July, agents deposited money at the bank account of DSO Imphal East.
Overlooking this fact, PDS rice was distributed only on a single day.
This evoked a serious question whether this arrangement was able to distribute rice to all the people of Thongju A/C, Bishwajit said.
This arrangement was a clear indication of the corrupted administrative system which is also influenced by parochial political outlook, he added.
