Imphal, August 09 2015 :
The framework agreement signed between the Government of India and NSCN-IM should be limited within the State of Nagaland and it should not transgress upon the territorial integrity, composite history and culture of Manipur, said BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesman Prof S Tiken.
Speaking to media persons at their office here today, Prof Tiken pointed out that BJP's manifesto promises to keep the geographical boundaries of North Eastern States intact.
No political party should capitalize on people's anxiety and eagerness to know the details of the agreement in order to gain political mileage.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already assured Chief Minister O Ibobi that the interests of all North Eastern States would be protected and the agreement was just a framework.
As such, it would be misplaced to target BJP and the party is acting in sync with the people's pulse, Prof Tiken said.
BJP has full confidence that the framework agreement would not challenge the territorial integrity of Manipur, said former Minister Salam Ibohal.
He also appealed to all the people to remain calm and not to be over-anxious.
In order to remove all the apprehensions and anxiety of the people of Manipur, BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba has been camping at Delhi.
There would be technical problems in studying the agreement at the moment as the same has not been tabled in Parliament.
Even if the accords gives autonomy to Nagaland, it should not infringe upon the territory of Manipur, Ibohal said.
BJP Manipur Pradesh vice-president and president in-charge I Mangiton was also present at the press meet.
