Imphal, August 09 2015 :
As very little has been disclosed about the peace accord signed between Government of India and NSCN-IM, people of Manipur must remain wary and alert, stated Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam.
He was speaking at a function held at Congress Bhavan in commemoration of the Quit India Movement.
As a leader of the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to keep his assurance of keeping the boundary of Manipur intact.
Notwithstanding the Prime Minister's assurance to consult the Chief Ministers of the neighbouring States of Nagaland before finalizing the peace accord, all the people of Manipur must stand firm and united in order to ward off any external challenge.
The Deputy Chief Minister called upon all the people of the State to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur by ensuring peace, unity and harmony.
It's time to give up all selfish motives and dedicate oneself to the common cause, Gaikhangam exhorted.
Floral tributes were paid to the freedom fighters of India as well as leaders of the Quit India Movement during the function.
Gaikhangam remarked that India won independence from the hands of colonial rulers on account of the selfless sacrifices made by freedom fighters and general public of India.
