Imphal, August 24 2018:
Salai Holdings & Private Ltd Board of Director member Koijam Roshan has termed the allegation of Health Director that Smart Medicos was banned following the lack of license, as unfortunate and baseless.
Speaking to media persons at Salai office at Sagolband Tera, Roshan claimed that it is rather unfortunate on the part of the Health Director for alleging that Smart Medicos, the sole agency which has been undertaking Jan Aushadhi Services under Chief Ministergi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) was banned due to the lack of licence.
He stated that the firm, after receiving official permission from the Medical Directorate, under Drug & Cosmetics Act 1940, has set up 20 retail outlets of pharmacies and added that the firm holds at least 10 MNC companies.
Cautioning that the allegation will not be taken lightly, Roshan claimed that the firm has been serving the public and supplying medicines as Jan Aushadhi for a tenure of one year under the agreement signed between Bureau of Pharma public Sector Undertakings of India (BPPI) and the State Government.
He stated that the allegations were made to tarnish the image of the firm in front of the public.
Clarifying another allegation of the Health Director that Smart Medicos was also banned for supplying branded medicines as well as for failure to enrol at IT Portal, Roshan claimed that branded medicines were supplied as the medicines prescribed by doctors are not the only ones patients come to buy and as such branded medicines are also kept to prevent the scarcity of medicines in the interest of the patients.
Only 306 types of medicines out of the 667 types of medicines under CMHT are available or present in the more than 800 variety of medicines supplied by BBPI, he further claimed.
He further conveyed that the firm has played a huge role in making various medicines available in the State, which are not included in the list, for the sake of the sick and deprived patients and making the scheme a success.
He questioned the agenda of, the Govt and asked whether the motive is to discard the firm, which is a State entrepreneur firm, and hand over the service to a big firm outside the State.
Claiming that the allegations of Health Director is false and baseless, Roshan cautioned that the firm is set to take up necessary legal actions against him if the Director fails to straighten and clarify the matter at the earliest.
