Equipment distribution / training programme held

Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation Manipur in association with Heingang Gram Panchayat organised a micro-irrigation equipment distribution cum training programme at Heingang Mayai Leikai, today.
The programme conducted under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY 2019-20) was graced by DC Imphal East, Khumanthem Diana Devi and Pradhan Heingang Gram Panchayat, Konjengbam Jayanta Singh as chief guest and president respectively.
District Officer Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Imphal East, Waikhom Premeshwar Singh, UP-Pradhan Heingang Gram Panchayat Soibam Romio Singh and Assistant Engineer Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation RK Kabiraj Singh were the guests of honour.
On the occasion, Khumanthem Diana said that PMKSY is one significant scheme of the Government that aims at improving farm productivity in the country.
She said that the majority of the farmers in the State depend on rainwater for irrigation and utilization of sprinkler in a farm activity is quite low.
Saying that the department will train the farmers on drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation management, the DC added that distributing the farm equipment will serve no purpose if the farmers cannot use them conveniently.
K Jayanta Singh said that sprinklers and pumps were distributed to 40 farmers from Imphal East today and more farmers will get the same benefits soon.
