Security forces arrest six UG cadres

Imphal, November 05 2011: Security forces have arrested six underground cadres of different UG outfits.

Speaking to reporters at Thoubal Police Headquarters tonight, SP Konsam Jayenta said, two KCP cadres were nabbed in an operation launched against widespread serving of monetary demand notes by different UG outfits.

He added that a joint security team of Thoubal district police commandos and troops of 15 Assam Rifles conducted extensive search operations at Ningombam, Haokha and Kiyam from 9 am to 4.30 pm today.

During the operation, security forces netted self styled district commander of KCP, Lisham Meghachandra (42) and another cadre namely, Khundrak-pam Bankim alias Naocha alias Naokin (22) from Haokha Maning Leikai.

One 9 mm pistol, four live rounds, two hand grenades, one desktop set, one Maruti car (MN 1A/6275), four demand notes, one mobile handset, four SIM cards were seized from them, the SP added.

On verification, the SP said, the duo disclosed that they were involved in distributing monetary demand notes under the command of one Khundrakpam Anand of Thoubal Haokha.

In another operation conducted at Lilong, Thoubal district police commandos and troops of 28 Assam Rifles nabbed an injured PLA cadre.

The PLA cadre, Md Sana (38) was hit by a bullet on his right thigh as he tried to escape from the security team.

One foreign made pistol and six live rounds were seized from his possession.

SP K Jayenta said that Md Sana is working under the command of s/s Lt King of the outfit.

He was immediately rushed at JNIMS Hospital but refered to Raj Polyclinic, the SP added.

In another incident, a combined team of Thoubal district police commandos and troops of 28 Assam Rifles arrested one PULF (Azad) cadre from Lilong Yangbi Leikai at about 5 pm yesterday.

He has been identified as Md Kayamuddin (30) s/o late Md Amu of Lilong Yangbi Leikai.

One .32 pistol loaded with two live rounds was seized from his possession.

In another incident, a combined team of Thoubal district police commandos and 42 Assam Rifles and 27 Assam Rifles troops nabbed one RPF/PLA cadre from Langmeidong today.

The cadre has been identified as Elangbam Dinesh Singh alias Mangal (19) s/o E Babu alias Bijoy of Hiyanglam Mayai Leikai.

He is a self styled Lt Cpl and his army number is 2875 .

In yet another incident, troops of 27 Assam Rifles apprehended one UNLF cadre from Sugnu today.

He has been identified as No 1350 K Samananda (30) s/o Kh Shelungba of Sugnu.

The cadre has been has been handed over to Sugnu police station, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .
