UG cadres arrested

Imphal, November 05 2011:
Two cadres, including a district commander of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), and one active cadre of PLA have been apprehended along with a huge cache of arms and ammunition by a combined team of Manipur's Thoubal district police commandos and Assam rifles during search operations in the district on Saturday.
In continuation of the intensive drive carried out by the Thoubal commandos and Assam Rifles against the unidentified underground elements who are indulging in large scale extortion in the general area of Thoubal, the combined team of the district commandos and 15 Assam Rifles in a swift search operation in Ningombam and Thoubal Haokha areas arrested two KCP militants and recovered many incriminating articles, said Superintendent of Police, Thoubal district, K.Jayenta Singh in a statement.
The arrested are identified as Lisham Meghachandra Singh, 42 s/o L.Sanahal of Haokha Maning Leikai, a self-styled district commander of KCP and Khundrakpam Bakim Singh alias Naocha alias Naokin, 22 s/o (L) Kh.
Biren Singh of Haokha Maning Leikai, an active member of the group.
One 9mm pistol loaded with four live rounds, four demand letters of KCP, one dual SIM mobile handset (Lemon), four numbers of SIM cards, one Maruti car bearing number 800 B/No.MN-iA.6275, red in colour and one Desk Top computer with CPU, one printer HP, one keyboard and one computer mouse were seized from them.
In another operation in Lilong in the district, the commandos along with Lilong police and 28 Assam Rifles posted at Lilong arrested one People's Liberation Army cadre.
The arrested cadre is identified as Md.Sana, 38 s/o Md.Irabot of Lilong Dam Mathak, a self-styled private of PLA working under the command of one King, a self-styled lieutenant of the group.
One 9mm pistol loaded with six live rounds was recovered from his possession.
The PLA cadre sustained self inflicted bullet injury on his left thigh while trying to flee.
He is now at a hospital, the police official said.
All the arrested along with the seized items/articles have been handed over to the concerned police stations i.e., Thoubal and Lilong for further investigation, he added.
