BJP blasts HM's state visit

BJP Manipur Pradesh today condemned Union Home Minister Chidambaram's act of not meeting the people and political parties of the state during his visit here given such a grave situation the state is facing due to the ongoing economic blockade.
Speaking to reporters during a sit in protest organised in solidarity with Irom Chan Sharmila and her 11 years old fast, President, BJP Manipur Pradesh Shantikumar said that people of the state are facing the hardships of economic blockades even if SHDDC has suspended its blockade, the UNC is still continuing with theirs.
He questioned the motive of the Union Home Minister for not suggesting any possible solution to the prevailing situation of the state.
He further said that BJP has been demanding the repeal AFSPA 1958 from the state since long.
Party MP Bijaya Chakkravarti in 2010 moved the parliament asking the reason of implementing the Act in Manipur in a calling attention motion.
