CCpur, March 31 2018:
Within hours of the Zillai Ghq clamping an 18 hour total bandh in Churachandpur demanding the Government to secure the safe release of two abducted drivers, Agriculture Minister V Hangkhanlian managed to strike a deal resulting in the bandh's premature withdrawal.
The Minister along with local officials both from civil as well as the police and members of ADC Churachandpur met representatives of Zillai at VPC complex to strike the deal that resulted in the bandh being withdrawn 4 hours ahead.
It is said that the two sides discussed the issue minutely during the talks wherein the Government sought 3 days time to put their best efforts in securing the release of the abducted duo.
Acknowledging the efforts set-in motion by the Government representatives of Zillai wound up the bandh by 2 pm, well ahead of the specified time.
Nevertheless, the bandh which was effectively enforced and backed by numerous social organizations witnessed torching of tyres across several points prior to the deal.
At least two vehicles, an Activa Scooty and a diesel auto were also partially damaged by bandh volunteers at Hiangtam Lamka.
