Imphal, August 13 2010:
The recently declared results of the recruitment of Primary teachers for the six autonomous district councils have exposed the discrimination of the SPF Government towards disabled persons, alleged the All Tribal Disabled Union Manipur.
Speaking to media persons at their Chingmeirong office here this afternoon, ATDUM president Momo Tantanga said that there were glaring irregularities in the recently declared results of recruitment of Primary teachers for the six autonomous district councils besides clear cases of forfeiting the rights of disabled persons.
While 334 additional candidates were recruited in the category of disabled persons, the number of disabled persons selected for the same posts was lower than the number of reserved seats.
Saying that a case is pending in the High Court with regard to the extra number of seats allotted to abled persons, Momo Tantanga said that the Government should withhold the salaries of the additional teachers.
In addition, there were many cases where abled persons were recruited against the seats of disabled persons using forged disability certificates.
Alleging laxity on the part of the authority concerned while verifying the disability certificates, the president decried that even as the authority concerned has been approached repeatedly to provide detail information about the recruitment of Primary teachers for autonomous district councils under the RTI Act, there has been no positive response till date.
Subsequently, an appeal has been submitted to the State Information Commission to take up necessary actions, he added.
