Anand originally hails from Thanga Oinam Mayai Leikai but is staying at Moirang Patlou.
At his disclosure, the IED weighing around 5 kgs was recovered from a nearby open area likely to be a homestead.
The IED has been subsequently detonated safely by the bomb experts of State Police at Khwairakpan at around 5.45 pm.
While the explosive was being detonated, traffic along Tiddim line was stopped for sometime.
There was one magazine filled with bolts, bearings, nails and explosive materials in the IED.
Talking to mediapersons in this connection at the Bishnupur District Police Headquarters this evening, SP Konsam Jayanta said that security are on alert for the last couple of days following intelligence reports that some of the UG groups may try to disrupt the Independence Day celebration.
The combined force arrested the UNLF cadre Angouton as part of this security measure.
During interrogation, it has come to light that the IED had been handed over to Angouton by one sergeant Angamba of the outfit to plant and trigger a blast at a spot in between Nambol and Bishnupur, the SP disclosed.
Informing that Angouton has undergone military training of the outfit inside Myanmar and is a bomb expert, the SP said that Angouton was also involved in blasting of an excavator of LDA on January 21 this year.
