New Delhi, August 13 2010:
A Delhi court today sent five members of a banned Manipuri militant outfit, allegedly involved in bomb explosions and incidents of firing in the Northeastern State, to 14 days judicial custody.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sunil Chaudhary remanded Langian alias Manocha, Maibam Radheyshyam, Sapam Samnanda Singh, Sagolshem Samanda and Ningathoujam Geetchandra alias Kalu to judicial custody till August 27 .
Out of the five, Kalu was arrested yesterday.
The other four, apprehended on August 11, were produced before the court at the end of their two-day custodial interrogation .
All the five are alleged to be members of banned Manipuri militant outfit Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) .
They are also suspected to owe their allegiance to another insurgent group called PREPAK, (the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak), which is demanding an independent homeland in Manipur.
According to the police, the accused were wanted in several cases of killings, bomb explosions and firings in different parts of Manipur.
They alleged that the accused also extorted money from prominent businessmen, politicians and Government officials of the State.
