Imphal, November 09 2009:
Reacting to the statement of Movement for Tribal People's Rights, Manipur (MTPRM), a joint statement of Kuki Chiefs' Association (KCA), Thadou Students' Association (TSA) and Thadou Tribe Council of Chandel district suggested MTPRM leaders not to interfere in district issues and leave to its people if not consulted.
The three bodies said that immediate removal of CEO Chandel S Wurngam Anal from his post is being demanded due to his malpractices, corruption, and communalism in the appointments of District Council teachers during the past 20 years and his manner of conducting the recently conducted written test for the appointment of Primary school teachers.
The joint statement said that KCA, TTC and TSA is pressing the demand so that no more malpractice, corruption and communalism are allowed.
Expressing wonder over the alleged sudden interference of MTPR, the three bodies asked the motive of MTPR leaders to get involved in the issue without consulting the tribal leaders of the district.
The Chandel bodies further cautioned that if MTPR does not retract from its stand, the three organisations would not support any movement initiated by MTPR.
The joint statement further said that the demand of a non-tribal CEO for the district is not an anti-tribal move but to have a non communal and neutral CEO.
