Take case to EPIC portal: Sources

Imphal, November 10 2020:
Even though a large number of people have been using LPG connections free of cost under PMUY, complaints of subsidy given on LPG refills not reaching bank account of beneficiaries have been multiplying.
There are more than one lakh beneficiaries of PMUY in Manipur which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 1, 2016 .
Sources informed that complaints of LPG cylinders not reaching bank account of beneficiaries have been multiplying since sometime back.
There are also rumours that the subsidy given on LPG would be cancelled.
However, there has been no clarification on the rumours from the side of the IOCL so far.
If the LPG subsidy does not reach the bank account of a beneficiary after obtaining a refill, he/she may complain to the distributor concerned or through the Electronic Platform of Indian Oil Corporation (EPIC) portal.
If one makes a complaint through EPIC portal, a message would be forwarded to the IOCL's Sales Officer.
After lodging the complaint, one can easily know the reason for LPG subsidy not reaching his or her bank account by checking on the same portal, said the sources.
There are reports that distributors do not respond properly to complaints made by consumers.
As such, IOCL has been asking distributors to give due emphasis on customer care, according to the sources.
The only requirement to make sure that LPG subsidy enters one's bank account is linking the bank account with Aadhaar.
At the time of obtaining LPG connection under PMUY, names of all the family members of the beneficiary listed in his/her ration card are submitted.
If one or more of the family members has/have LPG connection, the subsidy would not reach the beneficiary's bank account, said the sources.
There are many PMUY beneficiaries who have been asking authorities/distributors to disconnect their LPG connection but LPG connection given under PMUY cannot be disconnected, said the sources.
There are many people in the State who obtained Aadhaar cards twice.
Such Aadhaar numbers when fed to computer system for linking with bank accounts are not accepted by the system.
This can be another reason for LPG subsidy not reaching bank accounts of PMUY beneficiaries.
If someone has accounts in two banks, say Manipur State Cooperative Bank (MSCB) and United Bank of India (UBI) and he/she has linked his/her Aadhaar number only with the MSCB account and he/she submits UBI account at the time of LPG connection, the subsidy may go to the MSCB account.
On checking the complaints of LPG subsidy not reaching bank accounts of beneficiaries, it turned out that most cases of these lapses were due to mistakes on the part of beneficiaries, the sources added.
