Another 'first' for Sky Hospital

For the first time in Manipur a complex balloon coronary angioplasty and stenting was performed at SKY Hospital, Imphal on December 22 .
According to a statement issued by Sky Hospital, the balloon coronary angioplasty and stenting was performed on one L Apabi.
He had two coronary arteries blocked at bifurcation for which he had to either undergo Coronary Artery By � Pass Graft (CABG) surgery or two stents implantation.
The patient opted for a non � operative treatment strategy, the statement said.
The complex coronary angioplasty and stenting of the two blocked arteries was performed using a special highly skilled technique called Double Kissing Crush Stenting (DKCS).
In this technique, the two blocked arteries were dilated by inflating two balloons simultaneously, it said.
Two stents were then deployed after various manoeuvres.
The position of the stents was finally checked using Stent boost Technology, the statement said.
Under the initiative of SKY Hospital, Free Heart OPD and Free Coronary Angioplasty and Pacemaker implantation operation for senior citizen of the State, L Apabi was conducted without procedure fee.
The hospital charge, two-day charge of ICU from admission till his discharge was exempted, it said.
