World TB Day observed

Chandel, March 25 2023:
District Health Society, National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP), Chandel district in collaboration with Piramal Swasthya Management & Research Institute yesterday observed 42nd World TB Day under the theme, "Yes we can end TB" at District TB Centre, Chandel.
It was attended by Chief Medical Officer Chandel, Dr Serthani Serbum; District TB Officer Chandel, Dr Tongan Roel; and District Malaria Officer Chandel, Dr Siarloa Similan Aimol as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Serthani Serbum stated that the Government of India has set the target to eliminate TB by 2025 .
Sharing that cooperation of the public is essential to eliminate TB, he mentioned that necessary equipment and medicines should also be provided by the department concerned.

He pointed out that TB is curable and the treatment cost and medicines are provided freely by the Government.
Dr Sethani further appealed to the public to come forward for testing and know their status early to avoid any complication.
Distribution of prizes to the winner of quiz competition and felicitation of cured patients were the other highlights of the event.
