Mao Council bandh ends, president resigns

Mao, May 24 2015 :
After hours of confusion after the proposed 24 hr total bandh was called off in the morning of May 22 morning, it was re-imposed in late afternoon on May 23 by Mao Council leaders which also witnessed the resignation of its president.
Mao Council in a statement clarified that the decision to call off the bandh was based on the assurance of Chief Minister O Ibobi to consider the matter seriously and initiate necessary action.
The decision to call off the bandh was however not taken by the Council but was the handiwork of some persons led by the president, alleged Mao Council.
Therefore, a collective decision of the house decided to re-impose the said bandh as announced earlier and it was enforced effectively as desired by all, it said.
It also acknowledged the support and co-operation of the general public to endorse the said bandh which passed off peacefully.
Meanwhile, the Mao council has also informed that the president of Mao Council has also resigned on moral ground on May 23 .
Till the time of filing this report, no untoward incident was reported during the said bandh.
