Imphal, May 24 2015 :
The news reports about some workers of Limkhojam Haokip, ADC candidate of Torbung A/C, Chandel district, Manipur, published by a few local papers, alleging that UKLF cadres had threatened them to stop its election campaign activities, is totally baseless, the outfit clarified on Sunday.
A statement by MP Haokip, secretary, information & publicity of United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) said, "We the UKLF, of course, follow the resolutions of the chiefs and public leaders and accordingly appealed to all intending candidates to obey the resolutions of the public but never go beyond this and that and we make it clear that we didn't indulge in any activities to disturb any candidate in the election process till today" .
According to election code of conduct all SoO armed groups are not permitted to roam outside their camp but Helun Haokip, chairman of Kuki National Liberation Front (KNLF) and his home secretary along with five of its cadres are staying peacefully at New Samtal village and disturbing election activities of BJP candidates there, it claimed.
Helun Haokip, claiming himself to be chief of the village, is now calling candidates to his village to issue diktat and to warn them thereby disturbing their election activities, the statement said, adding that the concerned authorities need to look into this matter.
It said the recent removal of KNLF camp from Semol village by 6 Dogra Regiment of Moltuh was done under the direction of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India in pursuance of the repeated request of the public of the area.
The step of the 26 Sector Command, Pallel, and 6 Dogra of Moltuh, is very well appreciated by the people of the area since the presence of a surrendered group in the area is certain to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the area, UKLF said.
"We also thank the Assam Rifles posted in our area in general and 6 Dogra of Moltuh in particular for their efforts to help the people of the area for ensuring peaceful co-existence.
