JAC Pallel pardons accused's family over May 5 killing

JAC Pallel and Aimol Peace Committee have reached on Sunday an amicable agreement over the Pallel killing after taking into consideration the fact that the family members of the prime accused in the case tendered an unqualified apology in the presence of titular king of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba.
The agreement was reached during a meeting presided over by the titular king at the courtyard of the Palace here.
The meeting was attended by representatives of JAC Pallel, Aimol Peace Committee, Uttra Shanglen, UKAL and KAKHAL.
Father of the main accused in the killing, M Wailon Aimol during the meeting tendered an unqualified apology over the fatal incident, which was accepted by the JAC Pallel.
Former chairman of Royal Council Kangjia Mangang and Pallel JAC convenor M Dhananjoy and Aimol Peace Committee convenor Kh Okhup Aimol were also present during the conciliation meeting.
Speaking during the meeting Leishemba Sanajaoba appealed to all communities of the State to uphold peace and harmony and live together.
The May 5 Pallel killing incident which claimed life of one devotee, Moirangthem Gopal and injured several others outraged the people of the State.
The meeting further agreed that a joint effort will be made to punish the culprits and deliver justice.
It also resolved that the government will be urged to pay compensation to all victims quickly.
Both sides settled that Pallel and Aimol villages should avert any unwanted incident in future during cultural festivals of both the neighbours.
Further agreed that a memorial site of M Gopal will be set up and his death anniversary will be observed every year.
It also decided that all culprits should pay expenses incurred for the losses and destruction caused during the Ibudhou Sekmai Ningthou Lai Haraoba festival for which the Aimol Peace Committee should play the key role.
