27 cops, VDF personnel of Jiri test positive

As many as27 personnel of Jiribam district police and VDF have tested positive for COVID-19 today after an ASI involved in screening people who returned by train from different parts of the country to Jiribam was tested positive earlier.
Altogether 170 samples of suspected police personnel and their family members were tested today.
According to information received from Jiribam district police and CMO Jiribam, the police and VDF personnel who have been tested positive for COVID-19 include one ASI, four Havildars and a woman police who was assigned duty at the quarantine centre opened at RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya, Jiribam.
Those police and VDF personnel were engaged in screening train passengers and guarding quarantine centres.
They would be brought to CCC Meitram and Family Welfare Training Centre CCC, Lamphelpat tomorrow.
A press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang informed that 37 individuals (30 males and seven females) were tested positive for COVID-19 at RIMS during the last 24 hours.
28 of them belong to Jiribam, three to Thoubal and six to Ukhrul.
Hints of local cluster transmission of COVID-19 at Jiribam police station have been found but no sign of community transmission has been detected so far, said the press release.
The respective number of active cases and recovered cases as of Friday are 678 and 638.The recovery rate is 48.48 per cent.
22 people who were undergoing treatment for COVID-19 have been discharged from different COVID Care Centres during the last 24 hours following recovery.
11 of them were treated at CCC Meitram, two at CCC Chandel, five at CCC Kasom Khullen, one at CCC Ukhrul and three at RIMS.
On the other hand, out of 534 samples tested at JNIMS today, seven were found COVID-19 positive.
As such, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases has reached 1323 in the State.
