Children's Day celebrated

Social Welfare Dept today organised Children's Day at Bal Bhavan, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
Presentation of cultural items by students, painting competition and distribution of awards marked the Children's Day programme.
Principal Secretary (Social Welfare) SK Dev Verman, Joint Secretary L Nabakishwar and chairperson of Manipur State Commission for Protection of Child Rights S Saratkumar Sharma attended the programme as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
The painting competition was held in four categories.
Prizes were presented to the winners by the dignitaries later.
Children's Day has been celebrated on Nov 14 across the country to mark the birth anniversary of India's first Prime Minister Pt Jawaharlal Nehru, who is also popularly known as architect of modern India.
At the same time, FXB India Suraksha celebrated Children's Day in partnership with The Unique Model Academy School, Heingang Mayai Leikai, Imphal East.
According to a statement, painting competition and football matches were the main highlights of the celebration programme.
FXB India Suraksha has already launched Suraksha scholarship programme, to help school dropouts who are socially and economically marginalised.
About 350 students, teachers, parents and others took part in the programme.
Gifts and prizes were distributed to the winners of the competitions and outstanding performers, it added.
The Manipur State Legal Services Authority today organised Children's Day at Blind school located at Takyelpat.
The programme was graced by Justice N Koteshwar, Justice Kh Nobin and Manipur State Legal Services Authority member secretary RK Memcha.
Gifts and food items were also presented to the students.
