The Election Commission of India has given its consent to allow voters to cast votes in the ensuing by-election to Thang-meiband AC and Thongju AC if they can produce any one of the 12 recognised identity proof documents.
Even if a voter cannot produce voter card, he/she still would be allowed to cast votes if he/she can produce passport, driving licence, service identity card, bank/post-office passbook, PAN card, Smart card issued by RGI, job card, health insurance Smart card, pension book, voter slip or identity card issued by MPs and MLAs.
Voter slips should be made available to all voters 24 hours before the polling day.
Voter slips which could not be distributed in advance should be distributed on the polling day in front of polling stations in presence of booth level officers, said a directive issued by the ECI to concerned officials.
