TNL President meets Rijiju; invites Modi to Lui-Ngai-Ni fest

Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) President Weapon Zimik met Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and Ameising Luikham, the only serving bureaucrat from the Northeastern States at the level of Secretary to Government of India who is also a Tangkhul Naga on November 12 last.
A press note issued by TNL said the Weapon Zimik visited New Delhi to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the next year's Lui-Ngai-Ni festival to be held on February 15 in Ukhrul Town and to be organized under the aegis of United Naga Council (UNC).
The TNL as a host of the biggest Naga festival in Manipur and for Tangkhul Nagas living in Myanmar Somra Track inviting Modi is the most opportune time for the Nagas and for the rest of India in the collective effort to bring closeness and to further deepen the relation for peaceful co-existence, said TNL.
TNL met Kiren Rijiju to seek his help for smooth acceptance of UNC and TNL invites to Modi, informed TNL.
Zimik requested the Union Minister to facilitate the visit of Modi as the Chief Guest of the festival of 16 Naga tribes in Manipur.
In a request letter submitted, TNL said, "Under the leadership of PM Modi, Nagas around the world see his commitment to find honorable and amicable solution to the long political aspiration of the Nagas.
We are delighted to witness the historic Peace Accord that was signed on 3 August 2015.Henceforth, Prime Minister gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest will usher long lasting peace and understanding which has long evaded in the region" .
Further, the letter also sought the support of Rjiju in fulfilling the aspiration of all the Nagas in Manipur with more than 30% of the State's population to see the Prime Minter attending the festival as he had done in Nagaland's Hornbill Festival.
TNL President also highlighted the indifference of State Government in the development activities of the hill districts including the three International border districts.
The letter mentioned "�.we request our Hon'ble Minister to personally look into a deplorable condition of international border districts in Manipur.
Most of the villages are left without any State or Centre Government development footprint".
The Minister responded the visiting team led by TNL President with a very positive approach and assured to help in whatever possible ways under his capacity as a Minister.
In the meeting with Ameising Luikham, TNL shared the difficult problems face by the hill districts and sought his suggestions in the efforts to bring peace and development among the tribal community in the State.
