Liquor seized, disposed

Womenfolk at Moirang Lamkhai seized one 12-wheeler truckload of IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor) whiskey and beer around 4 am this morning and promptly disposed of the same.
The liquor cases were hidden beneath cartons of sweets and Neeraj cooking oil.
The owner and driver of the truck has been identified as Tampakmayum Manohar Ali, 47 from Yairipok Tulihal Awang Leikai accompanied by handyman Makakmayum Sarif (24).Both persons along with the truck in question have been handed over to the police.
According to a receipt recovered from the truck, it was loaded from Kaushal Marketing located at Arham Plaza along MG Road, Guwahati with M/S Prathana Enterprises, Ward No 3 Moreh listed as the shipping address.
According to an eye-witness, a truck was coming from Imphal when womenfolk who were on 'duty' on roster basis stopped it and raised questions regarding the contents.
The truck was then checked leading to the discovery of cases of McDowell's Whiskey, Kingfisher beer etc.
Meanwhile, driver Manohar Ali has claimed that the contents of the truck belong to one Mani from Bihar.
Reportedly, he has been transporting goods for Mani for a very long time, therby building a sense of trust.
Thus, he claimed that they were asleep when the truck was being loaded on May 23 and their only job was to deliver the contents of the truck to its destination.
On the othr hand, the recovered IMFL liquor was set ablaze at a garbage dumping site by the womenfolk.
