Father urges to retrieve son's body

Khoirom Hemchan-dra of Langthabal Man-trikhong Mayai Leikai has appealed to the authority concerned to retrieve the mortal remains of his son Khoirom Romario, who was killed in armed attack and arson by Kuki militants in a Sugnu village in the wee hours of May 28 .
Interacting with the media on the sidelines of a sit-in protest organised by Langthabal Mantrikhong Apunba Meira Paibi Lup at the local community hall on Thursday, Hemchandra said Romario was killed in the armed attack and burning of houses by Kuki militants in Sugnu on May 28.Upon re-ceiving the information, his family members along with some local residents met local MLA, DC, SP and As-sam Rifles requesting them to retrieve body, which is reportedly lying in Sukom area of Sugnu.
Even after five days, the authority has not been able to retrieve the body, he said while drawing attention of the chief minister so that they could conduct his last rites.
He said that as his son died in the fight to protect the state's territorial integ-rity they want to give him a fitting tribute and proper conduct of his last rites.
Protestors demanded the government to retrieve body of Romario, uphold the ter-ritorial integrity of Manipur, terminate SoO agreement with Kuki militant groups and update NRC in the state.
Lup formed to participate in people's movement CHRONICLE NEWS SERVICE IMPHAL: Consequent to the ethnic clashes since May 3 and relentless attacks on foothill villages by heavily armed Kuki militants, Social Uplift-ment Organisation (SUO), Singjamei Vocational Development Organi-sation (SVDO), Service Recreation Organisation of Youth (SROY), New Age Club, Samaj Kanba Nupi Lup, Silam Sintha Nupi Lup and Yaipha Nupi jointly formed 'Apunba Thon-gam Leikai Lup' for participating in the democratic movements.
In a release, Lup's media coordi-nator Gunachandra Kakchingtabam said that it will join and support the movements launched by COCOMI and COPIM regarding the current issues and further appealed to the people not to spread and believe in rumours as believing in such mis-information will create misunder-standings among the people.
