Imphal, June 01 2023:
Apunba Keithel Sinnaibi Lup, Kangleipak (AKSIL) president Khamnam Sobhapati Devi has said that it was unfortunate of union home minister Amit Shah to leave without mentioning the withdrawal of Suspen-sion of Operation.
In a press meet held at Manipur Press Club here Thursday, Sobhapati said that the union home min-ister skipped the matter of withdrawing SoO, which indicates the Indian gov-ernment's open support to Kuki militants.
If the Indian government continues to be biased and shows partiality among its citizens, it will be difficult to get true justice and instead aggravate the already tense situation, she stated.
AKSIL secretary general K Prabha Devi questioned the central government's hesita-tion in announcing a ban on poppy cultivation in the hills, encroachment in reserve forest areas, protected forest areas and wetland areas, and illegal settlements.
She then urged against allowing Kuki militants to roam free, while adding that the violence will not end as long as there is a hidden agenda between the central government and So0 groups.
It is the failure on part of the central and state govern-ments to control the violence which has been going on for almost a month, she said, while urging for the gov-ernments to formulate some kind of long-term policy to prevent such incidents in the future and restore peace to the state.
