Peace Committee passes numerous resolutions

Peace & Protection Committee Moirang has changed its name to Moirang Kendra Peace Committee during a meeting held today at the INA Memorial Hall of Moirang Kangla along with the passing of several resolutions.
Moirang Assembly Constituency MLA Thongam Shanti Singh chaired the meeting while Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur Lourembam Bikram, Superintendent of Police Bishnupur N Herojit and retd Lieutenant Colonel K Nilachandra were some of the notable attendees.
After a detailed discussion, the gathering appointed MLA Thongam Shanti Singh as the chairperson of the Committee; Dr M Nando as the working chairperson; H Sotojit as the convenor along with six advisors, two vice-presidents, five co-convenors and twenty-one executives.
Some of the resolutions paased by the Committee at today's meeting include: to refrain from launching agigatations before prior verification of information; to stage collective protest to safeguard the interest of Meitei community; to provide aid in the form of food items etc to front line volunteers and security personnel; to appeal to the Central and State Government to enforce some mechanism to ensure that the Indian Army carries out area domination exercises along the foothills to make farming possible; to quell spread of rumours and to undertake necessary and appropriate measures as changing situations might demand in collaboration with the public and disrtict administrations.
Lastly, the Committee resolved to appeal for the public's help and support in their undertakings.
Speaking in this connection, MLA Th Shanti Singh appealed against spread of fake information and called for collective effort to restore peace in Manipur.
