Sit-in protest seeks restoration of peace

A sit-in protest was staged at Yairipok Huidrom Leikai on Thursday to de-mand authorities concerned restore peace and harmony in the state.
Speaking to media persons, Huidrom Leikai Meira Paibi Lup leader Huidrom Jhan-shirani pointed out that the communal clashes since May 3 has made life very difficult for common people with all economic activities affected.
Appealing to the govern-ment and state forces to take stringent action to ease the problems faced by the peo-ple, she emphasised that the public are hitting the streets to seek protection of the in-tegrity of Manipur and for which they will even give their life.
On the other hand, Huidrom Leikai Youth Progressive Club secretary Huidrom Nongdamba de-manded that governments of India and Manipur should closely monitor Kuki mili-tants under So0 agreement whether they are observing ground rules or not, other-wise more intense violence will occur in the state.
He also asserted that In-dian Army has lost the trust of the state's people due to their questionable action and hence should be removed from the state.
The protestors also shouted slogans for protection of Ma-nipur's integrity, revoking of So0 agreement, peace, etc.
