Unemployment Day

The Joint Administration Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Union Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees Organisation (AMGEO) observed an Unemployment Day at its office at Babupara today, according to a statement issued by the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO.
A Mobi Singh, Editor, Manipur This Week, Dr M Rajendra Singh, president, JAC, AMTUC and AMGEO, Ch Chandramani Singh, advisor, JAC, AMTUC and AMGEO, attended the function as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
During the function, the rising number of unemployed youth in the State due to lack of transparency at the time to job recruitment and privatisation of health, transport, education, electricity and tourism departments was stressed.
At present, 5,03,466 unemployed males are registered with the State Employment Exchange while there are 2,03,426 unemployed females registered with the Exchange.
If unregistered unemployed youth are to put together, the number would exceed one lakh.
At the same time, the statement urged the State Government to release October salary to all the employees and pensioners in view of the approaching Ningol Chakkouba.
