In connection with the ensuing 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly Elections 2012, the District Magistrate of Senapati district has informed all arm licensed holders of Senapati district jurisdiction to submit the same to the police stations concerned with immediate effect till the election process is over.
Another statement issued by the Senapati District Magistrate informed that use of Military service pattern uniform, articles and painting of Military colour on vehicles by civilians is banned under the provisions of section 140 of IPC within Senapati district with immediate effect till further order in this regard.
Another statement issued by the District Magistrate further informed that carrying of fire arms including licensed arms within the district of Senapati has been prohibited under section 144 CrPC, 1973 with immediate effect and till election process is over.
The initiatives are being taken up with a view to maintain a conducive atmosphere for peaceful, free and fair polls in the district, added the release.
