Security at media offices

Following the ultimatum served on the Government by the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union on the heels of a bomb found planted at the office of a newspaper office on January 2 morning, the State Government has deployed police personnel at all the offices of the media houses from today.
On the other hand, as intimated by the Government, the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union has resolved to hold a meeting with the Chief Minister once he returns to Imphal on the difficulties and threats being encountered by the journalist fraternity of the State.
A decision to this effect was adopted at a joint meeting of AMWJU and Editors held at Manipur Press Club this evening.
Noting that security forces have been deployed in press offices, the meeting decided to urge the Government to provide security forces for the remaining press offices as well as the Press Club.
Another resolution of the meeting was that the journalist fraternity of the State would take out a protest rally from Tidim Ground till Press Club on January 7 starting from 8 am, informed a press release issued by AMWJU.
