Police commandos apprehend UG cadres

Imphal, August 28 2014:
A combined team of District Police Commando, Imphal East including women police and 40 Assam Rifles arrested an active cadre of United Revolutionary Front(URF), according to statement issued by the PRO, Police Department, Imphal.
The apprehendee has been identified as Nongthombam Memthoi Devi alias Thoi(31), d/o Priyokumar of Phunal Maring village currently residing at Wangkhei Koijam Leikai.
Memthoi alias Thoi was arrested from Wangkhei, near St George High School on August 26 .
A mobile handset with two SIM cards were recovered from her possession.
On her disclosure, her father, Nongthombam Priyokumar (59), s/o (L) Noida Singh of Phunal Maring village was also arrested on the same day from Irampham Thongkhong community hall.
One mobile handset along with two SIM cards were recovered from his possession.
Investigation revealed that the duo had extorted a sum of Rs 50,000 from an institute in Akampat in July for URF party fund.
On further disclosure of Nongthmbam Memthoi, another URF cadre, Nongthombam Chandrajini Devi(26), w/o (L) Th Romen Singh of from Waiton was also arrested from her current residence in PWD quarter in DM college campus on the same day.
A mobile handset with two SIM cards were also recovered from Nongthombam Chandrajini.
A case has been registered in Porompat Police station for further investigation.
Meantime, a team of District Police Commando, Imphal West, apprehended an active member of KYKL organisation today.
The arrested individual has been identified as Laishram Gandhi Meitei(28), s/o (L) L Rajentombi Meitei of Kakching Turel Wangma Ningthou Pareng, originally from Wangoo Mamang Sabal Nongyai Khongbal.
Laishram Gandhi was arrested from Jiri parking Wahengbam Leikai.
Investigation revealed that the apprehendee was involved in extortion of money from the vehicle counters at Jiri Parking Wahengbam Leikai.
One mobile handset with 2 SIM cards were recovered from the apprehendee.
A case has been registered in Imphal police Station for further investigation.
