Makru bridge

With the completion of repairing work of Makru Bridge along National Highway 37 by the Transporters and Drivers' Council (TDC), many loaded vehicles including FCI rice carriers which remained stranded for many days have started crossing the bridge from today.
The repair work of the bridge was taken up by TDC with assistance from Works and Transport Minister Dr Kh Rantankumar and BRO.
The repair work began from Jan 18 with 20 labourers of the BRO, 12 labourers of the TDC and drivers.
SE of PWD (NH Circle), N Noren and EE (Tamenglong), P Birkumar monitored the repair work.
Meanwhile, president of TDC, H Ranjit expressed gratitude to the Works Minister for extending assistance to the repair work.
The TDC President said that the council has spent between Rs 70 lakh- Rs 80 lakh for improvement of the highway as well as the bridge in public interest.
Ranjit further urged the concerned authority to replace the existing Makru and Barak Bridges with RCC bridges instead of undertaking new projects for the construction of bailey bridges near the bridges and make the highway looks like a real National Highway.
He also conveyed heartfelt thanks to the Post Commander of 7th IRB stationed at Makru for extending assistance during the repair work.
