Awareness camp on YPB, WCC, RP held

A one day awareness camp on Yarn Pass Book (YPB), Weavers Credit Card (WCC), Revival Package, HIS and MGBBY organised by Handloom and Textiles, Imphal East under the sponsorship of DC (Handloom), Ministry of Textiles was held today at the Food Processing Training Hall, Porompat.
As chief guest of the event, Census Operations, Manipur Director Y thamkishore Singh informed that weavers credit card is an initiative of the Development Commissioner (Handloom), Ministry of Textiles to assist handloom weavers by providing loans through the banks.
He also conveyed that a WCC holder may avail loan amount from Rs 25,000 to Rs 2 lakhs from the nearest bank for purchasing raw materials and weaving machines as well as expand the trade.
Expressing that the WCC is an opportunity for weavers of Manipur to flourish economically, the IAS officer also highlighted that a WCC holder would be provided a certain amount in case he/she or any family member requires medical treatment.
Imphal East Handloom (OSD) P Meenakumari Devi, who graced the occasion as the functional president, prevailed upon the weavers of the State to avail financial and health scheme benefits by possessing WCC.
Under the WCC, Rs 60,000 assistance is provided in case of demise of the weaver due to disease(s), whereas financial assistance of Rs 1.5 lakh could be availed in case of death caused by accident.
Moreover, Rs 75,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh could be availed by a WCC holder if a weaver suffers partial or permanent physical impairment due to accident, she informed while adding that a two children of a female weaver studying in between class IX to XII would be provided Rs 300 each scholarship amount for every three months.
The camp was also attended by Officer in-charge of Weavers Service Centre, Imphal Kommu Ravindra and Link Office UBI Keishampat's Senior Manager D Kipgen.
As resource persons, MGBBY Imphal Coordinator Th Biramangol Singh, ICICI Lombard imphal's Cluster Coordinator RK Sherjit and NHDC Imphal's Officer in-charge Y Shantikumar Singh elaborated on the issue.
