Imphal, January 25 2009:
Disclosing that they have been terminated from their service on the contention that their recruitment was not approved by the High Power Committee and that there was no reservation for SC/ST candidates, nine additional laboratory technicians who earlier worked under the Manipur State TB Control Society have appealed to the authority concerned to reinstate and extend their service as other laboratory technicians appointed on contract basis.
A press release issued by the terminated technicians asserted that as per guidelines of the Central TB Division, New Delhi there was no reservation in all the recruitment made for different posts before and after their recruitment.
In case there should be reservation for SC/ST candidates during recruitment on contract basis, then why was there no reservation during recruitment in other posts other than the nine additional posts, asked the terminated technicians.
They further asserted that none of the employees currently working in the State TB Control Society and District TB Control Societies on contract basis have been approved by the High Power Committee.
However, except the nine additional laboratory technicians, service of all other contract employees are being extended from time to time.
Informing that a ruling of the Gauhati High Court reinstated them to their posts, the technicians accused the present State TB Officer of not making recommendation for their service extension alleging that the nine additional laboratory technicians were recruited under faulty recruitment procedure.
Asserting that the State TB Control Society is preparing to recruit fresh employees after removing the nine laboratory technicians, the terminated technicians appealed to the authority concerned to view all employees uniformly and extend their service just as other employees on contract basis rather than victimising them again.
