Imphal, January 25 2009:
Along with tight security measures, the State Government is set to celebrate Republic Day tomorrow under the shadow of the boycott call as well as general strike call issued by several underground outfits in the North East region.
To ensure that the day passes off without a hitch, tight security measures have been taken up in and around Imphal.
Frisking and checking of passers by have been intensified during the last few days in Imphal.

A number of security personnel drawn from the State police, IRB, CRPF etc have been deployed at strategic points ahead of the day.
A number of contingents comprising of security personnel and students are set to take part in the march past event after Governor Gurbachan Jagat unfurls the tri-colour.
The march past will start from the parade ground of the 1st MR at 8.07 hours and make its way to Kangla at the southern gate where the Governor will give the salute.
The parade commander will be the CO of 2nd IRB Akoijam Radhakishore.
The march past then will proceed towards the northern gate of Kangla and take the Kanglapat route along NH-39 and then converge at the parade ground of 1st MR.DIPR will offer live commentary at four points to introduce the contingents to the spectators.
In connection with the day, ADGP A Romenkumar will be awarded the President Police Medal for Gallantry.
The others to be conferred the Police Medal for Meritorious Service include three Gazetted Officers, 21 policemen for Police Medal for Gallantry, one fireman for President Fire Service for Gallantry and one fireman for Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service.
