Team inspects Jiri works

Works Minister K Ranjit and Deputy Chairman of State Planning Board, Bijoy Koijam have jointly inspected the progress of the developmental works being taken up in different parts of Jiribam under the Works Department today.
Among the developmental works, the Minister and the Deputy Chairman, who were accompanied by officials of the Department, assessed the progress of the construction work on the ADC complex being set up at an estimated cost of Rs 11 crores at Pachao.
Although signs of speedy progress in the construction work of the complex could be seen, the Minister expressed unhappiness over utilisation of few labourers.
Accordingly, the Minister gave necessary instructions to the contractor and engineers concerned for deploying more labourers so that the work could be completed at the earliest possible.
The Minister also instructed the engineers to closely monitor the construction so as to ensure quality of the work.
After inspection of the ADC complex, the Ministerial team visited Babupara where construction work on a guest house in two phases is underway.
The Minister expressed satisfaction over the progress of the construction work on the main building of the guest house which is being taken under the first phase at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crores.
The Minister also appreciated the progress of the work for the second phase.
Later during the day, the Works Minister and the Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Board attended a function at Jirighat Junior High School where aids were distributed among 17 TB patients.
The function was organised jointly by Child Welfare Ashram, Jiribam and State TB Control Society.
At the occasion, the Minister and the Deputy Chairman also donated a sum of Rs 20,000 to the Child Welfare Ashram.
