Imphal, August 12 2011:
Reacting against the manner of the government in establishing the identity of mediapersons assigned for the coverage of Independence Day celebration, the AMWJU in its meeting has resolved not to send any reporters for the purpose.
In a press release, AMWJU stated that the ID cards issued by the DIPR to the mediapersons were issued after police verification.
However, police are verifying the identity of the assigned reporters by visiting their homes and asking family members to come to police station along with residential certificates.
Since the state government has become too suspicious about the identity of the media persons and their presence during the Independence Day Celebration function, AMWJU will not be sending any reporters to cover the function so as to avoid any suspicions of the government.
