Imphal, August 07 2021:
The World Meetei Convention (WMC) has written to the Prime Minister requesting him to do the needful to resume the flight service between Imphal-Silchar to ease the problems faced by many commuters using NH-37 which takes more than 8 hours to cover a distance of 253 kms.
In a letter written to the Prime Minister, WMC said the public had been expecting this stretch of road to get better with time, but it has not been fruitful yet, which has continued to be time consuming and hard to travel during monsoon.
Restarting the Imphal-Silchar flight service will solve the problem and will also save a lot of time, added the letter.
WMC has also written letters to the Chief Ministers of Assam and Manipur highlighting the need to restart the flight service between the two destinations.
