National board member of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises, Robin Blackie has distributed urea to about 100 farmers of Langthabal areas at a subsidised rate, today.
The price of a urea bag is capped at Rs 266.80 by the Government, while Robin distributed the urea at Rs 300 per bag, including the loading and unloading charges.
While distributing the urea at his residence at Maibam Leikai Bokul Makhong, Robin lauded Agriculture Minister O Lukhpi for handing over the fertilizers to redress the grievances of the farmers.
He, however, stated that a certain committee selling urea at an exorbitant price by taking undue advantage of the farmers woe is rather unfortunate and appealed to all concerned to refrain from such activities in the farmers who have are going through a rough phase amid the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic.
Saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched many farmers welfare schemes, Robin continued that over 9 crores farmers have been benefited by Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
The scheme (PMFBY) aims to provide a comprehensive insurance cover against failure of the crop to farmers, he added.
