Tamenglong, August 07 2021:
The Tousem Area Student's Organisation (TASO) has appealed to the State Government to initiate the process of establishing the Tousem Police Outpost, Excise Gate and other necessities in its boundary at the earliest.
A press release issued by TASO said that the continuous speculation on the boundary issues between Tamenglong District and Jiribam District have peaked in the last couple of days while adding that TASO have been urging the Government of Manipur to settle the issue once and for all without any positive results so far.
TASO reaffirmed that not even an inch of Tousem Sub-division would be disposed-off to any district and would not tolerate any sort of fragmentation.
No forceful disintegration shall be entertained as it would be detrimental to the peaceful and harmonious coexistence among the eight tribes inhabiting Tousem Sub-division.
It stated that the recent visit and action of Jiribam Administration and Jiribam CSOs in the highway areas have hurt the sentiments of the people.
It also cautioned that any unwelcome inspection of Tousem area would not be tolerated in the future and urged the Government to take action against the Jiribam CSOs and Police personnel for their unruly behaviour towards the people of Tousem.
In this regard, TASO reiterated its stand to fight tooth and nail as it is against the wish and aspiration of the people.
