Police step up security ahead of I-Day

In view of the upcoming Independence Day celebration, state police has stepped up security measures so as to prevent unwanted incidents.
On Sunday, cordon and search operations were conducted at various places.
According to police reports, a team of City police station along with women personnel conducted drive in hotels at Paona bazar and Thangal bazar starting from around 8 am.
Ten hotels located in Thangal bazar and Paona Bazar including Hotel Embassy, Hotel Nest, Prince Hotel, Hotel Avenue, Hotel Yaisana, Hotel City Heart, Hotel Jehova and Hotel Bliss were checked.
About 40 people were checked and verified.
However, no arrest was made during the drive.
Meanwhile, a team of Imphal West district police led by DSP CDO) Y Kishorchand Meetei conducted house to house search and verification of bail outs in Yaiskul Sougaijam Leirak, Hiruhanba and Chingakham Leirak areas from 8.30 am till 10.30 am.
During the operation, around 150 houses were searched and verified 250 people.
No one was picked up during the search operation.
A joint team of Imphal East district commando and Heingang police also conducted house to house search in Man-tripukri Lamlongei area.
A total of 40 houses were searched and verified 100 people.
Similarly, Thoubal district police including commando and women personnel conducted search operation from 6 am to 7.45 am in Thoubal Mea ground area.
Around 40 houses in the area were searched and 115 people were verified during the operation.
But there is no report of any arrest made during the operation.
