Sky Hospital scores new milestone

Sky Hospital has successfully conducted open heart surgery on four other children free of cost under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK).
Speaking to media persons today, Sky Hospital chairman Dr L Shyamkishore said that the four children underwent open heart surgery on October 8 and 9.Lalremsiem (9) d/o John Dharminglen from Chura-chandpur district, L Thoibi (9) d/o L Sanajaoba from Thoubal district, Chingkhei-nganba (3) s/o K Braja from Imphal West district and Chinglawnkim (8) d/o Kap-minlien from Churachandpur district were the children who underwent open heart surgery free of cost.
They had holes in their hearts since birth and they would not live long if the deformities in their hearts are not corrected through surgery.
Now open heart surgeries have been conducted successfully, they can live life normal persons, he added.
Sky Hospital conducted 27 numbers of open heart surgery, four numbers of bypass surgery (CABG) and two numbers of PDA operation during the last 10 months, Dr Shyamkishore said.
Senior Heart Surgeon and HoD BLK Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi Dr Ajay Kaul said that children born with holes in hearts can be cured if their deformities are corrected at an early age before they attain 10 years of age.
There are two stages of this heart disease.
If the lips and nails of a child become bluish, the condition is serious.
As for other children who have holes in heart but do not show such symptoms are curable by 100 per cent, Dr Ajay Kaul added.
