Imphal, October 09 2016:
The United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) has put certain strictures on executing contract works under PMGSY near their designated camp, Nazareth Camp which stretches from Khangbarol to Tuikong.
In a statement, UKLF said that it and the local population have been monitoring the PMGSY projects minutely and added that it has been found that most of the tenderers are not local people and have no idea of the demography of the region.
Once these tenderers are successful in winning a project, they sell the same to a third party at an exorbitant rate.
Those who buy the tender implement the project in such a way that no quality is maintained, said the outfit and added that it is the local people who suffer and the taxpayers’ money go down the drain.
Now the UKLF will not allow third grade contractors to come and work or even survey the area, said the statement and added that the department which conducts the survey will be solely responsible for any untoward or unwanted incident if the stand of the UKLF is not respected.
