Wheat distributed to public, claims Minister Okendro

CAF&PD Minister M Okendro has today stated on the floor of the House that the State's monthly quota of wheat is 2.891 MT and the same commodity is being distributed to the public.
Replying to a query raised by Th Shyamkumar, he went on to inform that the State's monthly quotas for rice and sugar are 12,416 MT and 1.763 MT respectively.
Responding to another question put up by the same MLA, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam stated that die-in-harness scheme may be given a chance in accordance with established rules as and when recruitment is made to the 4393 posts of police personnel currently vacant.
The total strength of Manipur Police should be 33745 but 7557 posts are still lying vacant.
Out of the total 7557 vacant posts, 4393 would be filled up, Gaikhangam informed the House.
To a query raised by K Shyam about payment of compensation for construction of RLIs on private plots, Chief Minister O Ibobi clarified that there was no agreement between land owners and the Government for payment of compensation.
Altogether 157 RLI schemes were taken up at different places under an informal understanding for the benefit of the respective localities.
Replying to a question raised by RK Imo, Ibobi stated that plans are afoot to install LED street lighting systems in some selected areas of Imphal as well as all hill district headquarters.
Ibobi informed that a total of Rs 443,62,94,497 is to be accrued from consumers in the form of power bills till March 31 this year.
On the other hand, the State Government has been spending Rs 20 to 21 crore every month for purchasing power, Ibobi stated in response to a query raised by K Shyam.
It has been made compulsory for all Government employees to produce no due certificates regarding payment of power bills before encashing their monthly salaries with a view to improve power bill collection.
The Government has also been working on a new mechanism under which power consumers can pay their overdue power bills in a much easier mode, Ibobi added.
