Elangbam Johnson, expressing gratitude on the observance of the day said that there is still threat to Manipur's territory even though UCM has observed its 15th foundation day.
The current territorial conflict between Manipur and Nagaland were not born in a day.It was in 1985 when Nagaland's people handed over some Manipuris to Nagaland Police for entering a place which they claimed was theirs, he added.
Such similar incidents had happened many times in the last few years such as case of Kozriin 2000 where Mao people were not allowed to enter Nagaland.
UCM further condemned the recent statement of Nagaland CM who proposed to settle the issue only by Naga Customary Law.
The civil organization recalled that a large scale of Mao's traditional area was merged in Nagaland when the new state was formed in 1963.Even Dimapur was annexed from Assam in a single night, it added.
The lost area of Manipur was not granted back when she got her statehood status in 1972.Since then Manipur's indigenous communities especially Mao people have been living with annoyance.
