Just 22 positive cases in 6 days

Imphal, March 23 2022:
The COVID-19 situation in Manipur has improved considerably with just 22 positive cases and no deaths reported since March 18 till today.
Notably, the State has been reporting fresh cases in single digit since March 18 with only one case detected on March 19 and 20 .
According to a latest update from COVID-19 Common Control Room, six fresh Covid cases were confirmed at JNIMS (2) and other testing facilities in the last 24 hours.
They are residents of Imphal West (1), Thoubal (3) and Tamenglong (2) .
With this figure, the number of active cases stands at 78 .
As 841 samples were tested in the period, the latest single day Covid positivity rate thus updated stands at 0.7 per cent as only six samples returned positive.
The death toll, on the other hand, remains at 2,120 with Imphal West reporting the maximum deaths at 704 while Pherzawl is at the bottom of the chart as the district doesn't have any case of Covid death till now.
Today, eight persons were discharged after recuperation from Home Isolation (7) and RIMS (1), improving the recovered cases to 1,34,859 .
The recovery rate is 98.40 per cent.
As per the bulletin, at least 296 Covid beds are currently vacant at JNIMS while another 118 beds are unoccupied at RIMS.
Yesterday, the State distributed 236 D-type and 111 B -type oxygen cylinders to different health facilities and administered 1666 Covid vaccine doses.
The State has so far fully vaccinated 50.24 per cent of its eligible population against COVID-19 .
